Every breakthrough starts with a question.
For decades, indigo dyeing has relied on essentially the same chemical process. At Nordic Blue, we asked the question:

NordicBlue was founded to take that breakthrough beyond the lab and build a solution the denim industry can actually use.

Bringing together the two Co-CEOs Ditte Welner's deep scientific expertise with Line Holst Graves' commercial experience in scaling biotechnology, NordicBlue was built to bridge two worlds:

- Why Nordic Blue

NordicBlue was spun out of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark, one of Europe’s leading biotechnology research environments.

Today, we combine deep expertise in biotechnology, textile dyeing and commercial scale-up to bring enzyme-activated indigo from science to industrial application.
